Attention Residents of Center City Philadelphia:

We are asking for your support in maintaining our neighborhood's sidewalk-cleaning program. Please take the time now to send in a tax-deductible contribution in support of neighborhood sidewalk cleaning, and please consider contributing at a higher level in order that we may continue to meet our contract costs.

As you are probably aware, it is the responsibility of property owners to maintain clean sidewalks. In 1997, CCRA entered into an agreement with Center City District to perform this task, thereby assisting property owners in keeping our neighborhood clean. Sidewalks are cleaned after trash day, and cleaning is focused on the debris left from trash collection. If you are a long time Center City resident, you have noticed the improvement in the appearance of our sidewalks in the past several years.

Several CCRA members have asked for clarification about our Sidewalk Sweeping Program. Although CCRA requests contributions for sidewalk cleaning, donations received by CCRA are forwarded to Center City District (CCD), which actually performs the sweeping. CCRA merely asks for the support of our area residents and businesses, records those donations received, and remits the funds to CCD under an agreement that goes back several years.

In order to continue the contract, we must raise about $30,000 each year. Any funds above and beyond those collected for street cleaning will be used for graffiti removal on public surfaces, like street lights and mailboxes. In the past we have requested a contribution of $50 or more per household per year. We greatly appreciate this level of support, yet in order to reach our goal, we encourage you to consider supporting this program at a higher level. Please make your check payable to Center City Residents' Association or CCRA, and note on the check "sidewalk cleaning". This will ensure that your contribution is earmarked for the sidewalk cleaning fund. Mail your contribution to:
