  • Public safety and emergency planning
  • SEPTA service and transportation logistics
  • Trash collection, and
  • How Center City residents can participate and make the 250th historic for everyone
​More than a million visitors will visit Philadelphia to celebrate the nation’s 250th anniversary. How will the festivities affect daily life for city residents?

CCRA wants you to understand what plans are in place to maintain essential city services and minimize disruptions for those of us who live here. Join us on April 9th and get the answers.

]]><![CDATA[Historical Tour of Rittenhouse Square]]>Sun, 15 Mar 2026 19:07:00 GMThttps://www.centercityresidents.org/ccra-event-blog/golden-age-of-rittenhouse-historical-toursAs part of Philadelphia’s 250th anniversary celebration, the Center City Residents Association (CCRA) and the Friends of Rittenhouse Square (FoRS) invite you to explore the history that shaped one of the city’s most recognizable neighborhoods.

Beginning in the 1830s, Rittenhouse Square developed into a sought-after residential address, known for its impressive homes and notable residents. This guided walking tour highlights the architecture, growth, and stories behind the Square’s transformation — offering fresh perspective on a place many of us pass every day.

Tour Overview
This approximately one-hour guided experience includes:
  • A walking tour tracing the Square’s 19th-century development
  • The history, art and architecture of Rittenhouse Square, the public park that continues to serve as the heart of our extraordinary community

Whether you are a longtime resident or visiting Philadelphia for the first time, this tour offers a meaningful way to connect with the Rittenhouse community and its place within the city’s broader historical story.

  • This is a walking tour; no seating is provided.
  • Comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
  • Tickets are non-refundable except in the event of weather-related cancellation.

This tour is co-sponsored by CCRA and FoRS
  • Member-only tours begin April 2026
  • Public tours run May through July 2026 (Limit 20 people per tour)
  • Tickets are $40 person and must be purchased online in advance
